“Death and life are in the power of the tongue” (Prov. 1821 NKJV)
Have you ever entered a room after harsh words were spoken and sensed a
negative spirit the words left in the atmosphere? Our words are so powerful
and have the ability to create death or life. Harsh, mean words can not only
change the atmosphere in a room but will affect the directions of your
thoughts and consequently, your emotions. If we master how we choose to
release words from our mouths, we can be successful in maintaining a
positive atmosphere in our homes, relationships and in the workplace. This
is a secret to maintaining peace in our minds. Our words can create peace
or turmoil for us. It’s been said “your life will never rise above the level
of your words”. Words are a reflection of our thoughts and are the root of
the direction of our emotions. Renewing your mind with the Word of God is
the way we get control of our thoughts and is a catalyst to controlling the words
we allow to come out of our mouths. We are instructed in Ephesians 4:23,
“And be renewed in the spirit of your mind”. This should be done daily, to
maintain daily victory in the area of our minds and consequently our choice
of words. I encourage you to take time daily to renew your thoughts in the Word.
It’s through this discipline that we are transformed and empowered to master
our thoughts and consequently the words we chose to release.
Prayer: Father God, thank you for the secret to controlling my words. Please
help, me to practice the discipline of renewing my mind in Your
Word and allowing You to empower me to get control of my thoughts so
that I can chose words that bring life. In Jesus Name Amen
