“May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
(1 Thess. 5:23 NKJV)
It is God's desire that we experience wholeness. We are composed of body, soul and spirit. We want to maintain health in all components of who we are. We are spirits who have a soul that live inside of a physical body. We are responsible to take care of every part of who we are. Our spirits will live on forever, however our bodies house our spirit and our souls. Death is simply the separation of the spirit and soul from the body. Our soul is comprised of our minds, wills and emotions. Our souls are influenced by what we feed our minds. What are you feeding your mind? The mind is like money, it will take on the characteristics of whatever you do with it. The mind will crave whatever you feed it. If you bombard your mind with negativity and trash you will reflect that in how you conduct your life. So, we literally choose our desires based on what we are feeding our body and souls. We need to keep the physical body strong by eating the proper foods that maintain physical health, getting the proper sleep, and exercise and maintaining the body weight designed for our bodies. We keep the soul healthy by managing the thoughts and information we allow to take resident in our minds. The mind will pass on information to the emotions and consequently your will is affected which determines how you make your choices in life. We have been instructed in the word to renew our minds (souls) in the word of God. Why? Because the word of God feeds our soul and transforms our way of thinking which guides us to make healthy choices that will facilitate a peaceful, productive, successful life. That does not mean we won’t experience unexpected trials or oppositions in our lives. But when we feed our soul on the word of God followed with the application needed to experience the benefits, we begin to transform into the person God designed us to be. I want to encourage you to take care of yourself wholly. Be intentional about applying the necessary principles to the different components of who you are. Remember you are a spirit who has a soul that lives inside of a physical body.
Prayer: Father God, I present to you today my body, soul and spirit. I ask that you enable me to apply the appropriate biblical principles you’ve given to maintain wholeness. I thank you in advance for success in obtaining wholeness. In Jesus name I pray Amen.
